The role of a Production Planning Manager is to lead, support and develop the function and colleagues to deliver a high performing planning team. Embed best in class systems and processes that support delivery of highly efficient production plans that are measurable against key KPI's. Support the strategic goals of the business by providing short- and long-term capacity plans and scenario planning.

Natures Way Foods is the leading manufacturer of prepared salads, coleslaw and "food-to-go" for supermarkets and retailers, and as such we work closely with farmers across Europe. But there's lots more to us than the products we make.

Key responsibilities

Daily production schedules

  • Support team to deliver timely, accurate and efficient daily plans
  • Measure and report key metrics and use to identify and implement continuous improvement
  • Maintenance of systems, processes and task to ensure efficient operation of the function
  • ‘One way' ensure a consistent approach and tools for scheduling all production sites through the same methodology

People/Team development

  • Clearly define development plans for all colleagues that deliver personal development and increase function skills
  • Support team performance through clear communications structure and rigour

Capacity & Scenario planning

  • Define process and method for short and long-term capacity planning for all production sites
  • Introduce process and method for warehouse and logistics capacity
  • Create periodic scenario planning process considering new business, changes to manufacturing, new equipment etc.
  • Ad-hoc scenario planning to support product development and new customer briefs

Systems

  • Define and implement ‘best in class' systems for both tactical and strategic planning requirements
  • Create long-term system road map designed to drive performance and efficiency
  • Ensure systems and process are maintained and utilised as key tools for production planning

S&OP

  • Lead the production planning agenda on periodic S&OP process
  • Lead and chair weekly S&OP process
  • Challenge S&OP process to deliver enhanced performance for the organisation

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in production planning leadership role gained in a similar or relatable industry (Food, Healthcare etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field
  • Professional accreditation in related field/specialism (e.g. CIPS)
  • Proven and demonstrated experience of leading and developing high performance teams
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong business acumen with ability to visualise the ‘bigger picture'
  • Strong interpersonal skills and active team player
  • Demonstrated experience of identifying, implementing and embedding key projects or initiatives
  • Ability to operate at pace and in ambiguous situations
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
