We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Variable Data Department Manager / Data Management Specialist who has team leadership and management experience preparing third party campaign marketing lists in Excel, Access and other formats for direct mail marketing campaigns.
Working as the Variable Data Department Manager / Data Management Specialist you will lead a team of 6 direct reports ensuring the client data provided is correctly populated for printing using various software packages.
As the Variable Data Department Manager / Data Management Specialist you will ideally have previous experience working in a direct mail / customer communications environment or within the print industry. You will also have knowledge of data management, data preparation, cleansing and enhancing, document composition and workflows. Experience within a data or pre-press team is essential.
You and the team will create and manage personalised data-driven communication materials from customer data and artwork. You will be responsible for specifying and developing variable data projects and workflows, ensuring accurate and efficient delivery of customised print and digital communications.
You will also play a crucial role in the strategic direction of the department and manage a team of 6, as well as contributing to the strategic plans of the company.
As a successful candidate you will be part of the Senior Management Team.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Variable Data Department Manager / Data Management Specialist include:
- Ability to take briefs from the Client Services Team and provide advice, where necessary, and manage internal customers' expectations around timescales and deliverables
- Plan, manage and monitor the delivery of data services to internal departments to ensure deadlines are met
- Develop and manage variable data print and digital projects using programmes including Adobe InDesign, PresConnect, Cygnus, Xerox FreeFlow, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access along with other relevant programming languages
- Ensure accuracy and quality control of variable data output, adhering to client specifications and industry standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve any programming issues that may arise during the production process
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of processes and projects
- Communicate effectively with internal customers to understand their needs and provide technical support as required
- Manage the Data Services Team to ensure all team members are striving to meet internal deadlines to ensure a smooth transition of work through the production process
- Working in accordance with company Data Protection, ISO27001 and ISO guidelines
