**Head of Public Law - Lead Associate London £55,000-£75,000 per annum DOE

Our client is seeking an experienced Litigator with at least 7 years post qualification experience, and a proven track record, to conduct their most complex public law case work, to supervise more junior fee earners and staff, and to build the firm's public law practice.

The candidate will need to ensure their casework is conducted in an expert, compliant, financially sustainable, impactful way, and works with and for the communities they serve.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing high quality legal advice and competently managing a caseload involving public and regulatory law;
  • Advising on any matters including legal and policy related issues;
  • Drafting complex legal documentation;
  • Attending conferences and court;
  • Seeking new clients in the NGO, Not-For-Profit, and charity sectors;
  • Delegating work and providing casework supervision to more junior fee earners, and other staff; and
  • Line managing junior fee earners.

Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor with rights to practise in England and Wales;
  • Have extensive experience in dealing with all Public Law related work. Expertise in Judicial Review is essential;
  • Strong management skills;
  • Previous proven supervisory experience;
  • Previous proven experience of working to key performance indicators;
  • Professional person with a pro-active approach; excellent client care skills and the ability to deal sensitively with vulnerable clients, and the ability to resolve the complicated practicalities in this area of law; and
  • Excellent networking and communication skills, with the ability to successfully market the firm and generate new business.

About the role

Salary: £55,000-£75,000 per annum, dependent on experience and expertise with generous benefits including enhanced pension contribution and private medical insurance, 25 days annual holidays plus public holidays.

Hours: 35 per week over 5 days.

Contract type: Permanent, after completion of a four-month probationary period.

Location: London office with flexibility for home working albeit some office presence will be necessary.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a unique law firm at an early stage of its development, lead and expand their Public Law case load, and help establish Practice as a go to firm for organisations that seek to make a positive and practical change to the world.

The role requires a qualified solicitor, who has considerable experience of running their own litigation, is comfortable with supervising others, and has minimal need for supervision on day-to-day casework. However, they also offer excellent training and supervision where needed, and the opportunity to progress.

The successful candidate will be proactive, have a sense of adventure, and feel comfortable within a dynamic, rapid-paced environment.
