My client are seeking a dedicated Street Scene Operative to join their multi-disciplinary team in Doncaster. The role involves carrying out grounds maintenance and cleansing duties throughout the borough, ensuring streets and public areas are maintained to high standards. This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and offers a hands-on opportunity to have a positive impact on the local community.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Maintain streets and public areas according to their needs and designed maintenance and improvement programmes, ensuring service standards are met for the benefit of Doncaster residents.
  • Perform general duties outdoors in various weather conditions, undertaking tasks appropriate to seasonal arrangements and emergency call-outs.
  • Act as a service request point of contact for customers, handling enquiries professionally and fostering good customer relationships.
  • Undertake multi-skilled tasks across different service areas as needed to ensure a consistent year-round service.
  • Work safely with appropriate equipment, including mobile technology, and report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the line manager.
  • Provide professional support within the team and share best practices.
  • Participate in the Council's standby arrangements, including winter maintenance and 24/7 standby cover, and assist the Emergency Planning Team during emergencies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to the role.
  • Experience with a variety of horticultural and street cleansing equipment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Proficiency in the use of IT systems.
  • Experience in customer-facing service delivery.
  • Willingness to undertake further training to enhance skills within the role.
