Long-Term Teachers have an exciting opportunity to join one of our fantastic schools as a specialist teacher, based in Taunton. The role involves providing high-quality lessons and pastoral care to year 9 mixed classes. You will be teaching across a variety of subjects so you must be confident at delivering a variety of subject content.

Our school provides high-quality education and support to young people with SEMH and learning and communication difficulties. You will be part of a team that works relentlessly to support students in overcoming barriers to both their education and personal development. Key responsibilities:

  • Act as a pastoral and subject leader for year 9 students, teaching across a variety of subjects
  • Manage and work closely with support staff to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment
  • Monitor student progress and provide appropriate feedback (through report writing and parents evenings etc)
  • Manage behaviour effectively in line with the schools' policies and procedures
  • Monitor and implement interventions outlined within EHCP's, also contributing to annual reviews

About you:

  • Previous experience working with young people is essential. Previous experience working with young people with special educational needs is desirable
  • QTS status is preferred
  • Ability to teach across KS3 - KS4
  • Motivated to inspire and make a difference to young people, both academically and personally
  • Resilient, outgoing, enthusiastic and excellent team player

Our school is ideally seeking a teacher to fulfil the role. However, this role may be suitable for a HLTA/experienced TA who is looking to take the next step within their career. This position will be full time, commencing in September.
