This highly regarded school in Tilehurst look after children who have been diagnosed with mental health needs. Many of these children also have co-existing issues such as stress, anxiety and depression.
The school need a mental health support assistant to come in and support their students in their day to day activities.
The students that attend this school are between the ages of 3 and 11. Each child has a personalised educational and health care plan and individual intervention plans designed to help them thrive. As a youth mental health worker, you will be part of ensuring that they are able to complete their academic work while also helping them navigate through their emotions. You will also play a part in helping them learn functional life skills, helping them be as independent as possible.
What you can expect as a Mental Health Assistant:
- Deliver specific interventions that have been designed with the student, their needs and goals in mind
- De-escalate any meltdowns and behaviour that may occur
- Help the children work through their big emotions
- Create a safe and engaging learning environment
