Our client is small but growing business dedicated to providing a wide range of engineering related services. The management team are passionate about delivering exceptional results for their clients, and pride themselves on their commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. They are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join the team and ensure a safe working environment for all employees and clients. As a Health and Safety Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures across the company. This role requires a proactive individual who can identify potential hazards, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. You will play a crucial role in promoting a culture of safety and ensuring the well-being of our team. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near misses, and recommend improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities, including training records, risk assessments, and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and changes in health and safety legislation.

Ideally you will have the following qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a Health and Safety Officer or in a similar role.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification in occupational health and safety or be working towards certification.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive and detail-oriented approach with a strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
