Purchase Ledger Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger Supervisor for a 6-month interim opportunity. This hybrid role, based in our London office, requires a candidate with a strong finance and technical accounting background, as well as proven experience in managing, coaching, and mentoring teams.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Ensure all purchase orders (POs) are accurately coded to facilitate correct Management Accounts reporting.
  • Distribute a weekly report on unreceipted POs and invoices awaiting POs to the business.
  • Supervise and provide support to a team of 4 Purchase Ledger Clerks, including training and technical assistance.
  • Oversee daily, weekly, monthly, and Year End tasks for the Purchase Ledger team.
  • Manage manual and BACS payment runs, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Payables Manager to monitor and review Purchase Ledger KPIs.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, manage risk through key financial controls, and enhance system controls.
  • Aim to reduce manual invoice processing within the team.
  • Uphold Information Security procedures in line with the company's policy.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger or finance department role.
  • Strong knowledge of purchase ledger procedures, payment runs, and complex query resolution.
  • Accounting or finance qualification (e.g., AAT) is ideal, though substantial experience is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Fusion is highly advantageous.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
