Planner (Town Planning) – £28k – £35k– Witney, Oxfordshire (Hybrid)

The Role

Edgars is an award-winning planning consultancy seeking a Planner with some experience to join our team and play a key role in our continued success.

You will be responsible for providing expert planning advice, preparing and submitting various planning applications, conducting research, and supporting projects of varying sizes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guiding clients on simple planning matters, including site appraisals, planning applications, and appeals.
  • Preparing and submitting pre-applications, planning applications, prior notification applications, discharge of conditions applications, and local plan submissions.
  • Conducting planning research and identifying solutions to issues.
  • Leading small and medium projects and assisting with larger high profile projects.
  • Drafting reports on factual information and supporting evidence, such as feasibility reports, planning statements, appeal statements, pre-application enquiries, supporting letters, and correspondence.
  • Presenting at committees and community consultations.
  • Preparing fee quotes for various projects and enquiries.

The Person

  • Degree in Planning or a relevant field, or successful completion of 2-3 years on an apprenticeship course and 2 years of professional experience.
  • Eligibility for or MRTPI membership.
  • UK driving licence.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of local authority and political systems and structures.
  • Excellent IT systems knowledge (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Logical thinker with problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
