SEN Teaching Assistant

Schools in Huddersfield need a compassionate, patient, and empathetic individual with a passion for supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Hays Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work in specialist ASD schools or SEN schools with pupils who have ASD in Huddersfield. You will be working on a 1 to 1 basis or in small groups, providing tailored support to meet each student's unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and understanding for students with ASD.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support each student's development.
  • Demonstrate patience and understanding in challenging situations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with students with ASD in the UK.
  • Strong understanding of de-escalation and calming techniques.
  • A proactive and caring attitude.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
