About the Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.

Salary: £40,600 - £61,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The Supply Chain Engagement Lead will support activity with our strategic supply chain across the SSE Group on four key areas of focus: sustainability, risk, innovation and supplier relationship management. The role holder will frequently coordinate and engage on activity at group level, but also support the embedded business teams and senior leaders and ensure a consistent approach across the entire organisation is being adopted. The successful candidate will oversee strategic relationships within the supply chain where there are cross-group activities on-going and leverage key opportunities for SSE. Furthermore, the role holder will support group-wide initiatives focussed on delivering insight on ESG performance across the supply chain, and risk management visibility that can help shape better decision making for all business units.

The individual must have a thorough understanding of the energy market (both regulated and non-regulated) and procurement regulations in order to be able to discover future value and opportunities to support the growth of the business.

The successful candidate will also interface with external parties to enhance UK and Scottish content and ensure SSE's supply chain are actively engaged with SME businesses and local government. The role will also include aspects of supplier development and analysis of the market, exploring future investment opportunities and price control periods for regulated business units and providing a degree of commercial acumen around this process.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead on cross-group supplier relationship management with strategic partners who are delivering across multiple business units, and help provide strong knowledge and insight on new market entrants and identify opportunities that can benefit the wider SSE organisation.
  • Create and develop an approach to gain insight from voice of the supplier and voice of the customer activities, ensuring SRM governance is set across the wider organisation and implementing key improvements where necessary to maximise efficiencies.
  • Support the development of a documented approach on Supply Chain Risk strategy that can be adopted when operating in high-risk countries/jurisdictions that can be embedded across the Procurement & Commercial function, providing insight on any industry changes and allowing SSE to maintain a leading position in the UK and Globally.
  • Help shape a digital approach and the potential adoption of risk management software for supply chain to manage significant volumes of data and information.
  • Engage and collaborate in the execution of Procurement and Commercials sustainable procurement strategy and support key enhancements to reflect any industry changes and that SSE maintains a leading position in the UK and Globally.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Awareness and knowledge of the procurement process, and be particularly strong in sustainability and the SDG goals and a good understanding of the supply chain risks (ESG, financial, geo-political, location based) and opportunities facing companies in the energy sector.
  • Extensive project management experience, with the ability to manage numerous projects at once and work with a range of stakeholders, including supply chain partners, peers, technical specialists, and communications teams.
  • Experience and demonstrable stakeholder engagement and managements skills are essential.
  • Strategic thinker who has outstanding judgement and can provide sound, practical advice to senior leaders and colleagues across the business, and the ability to read the wider energy market and understand areas of threat to the long-term strategy of SSE.
  • Great communicator, with a track record of delivering high-quality outputs and positively influencing internal and external stakeholders by presenting a compelling business case and complex information in a clear and concise manner.
