- Salary: £35,000 plus annual bonus
REED Procurement are delighted to be partnering with Industry leading, multinational client who have manufacturing sites and operations throughout the UK, Europe and beyond for the appointment of a Buyer.
The ideal candidate will be committed, customer-focused, and eager to gain a thorough understanding of our safety products and supply chain. This role involves gaining knowledge of suppliers, products, and global operational activity, as well as understanding the technical features of product portfolio and the value it offers to customers.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Place purchase orders effectively and in a timely manner for both system-driven manufacturing materials and requisitioned parts.
- Manage stock holding to ensure expedite and deferral requirements are carried out effectively.
- Develop strong relationships with global stakeholders, suppliers, and subcontractor suppliers.
- Take ownership of stock availability to maintain sales order OTIF at 98% or above.
- Communicate any parts availability risks to Operations Teams, ensuring all options to resolve availability concerns are fully explored to mitigate risk.
- Control purchased product costs and engage in cost reduction activities.
- Participate in NPD, NPI, and engineering change activities, coordinating effectively with suppliers and stock requirements.
- Engage with Goods-In and Finance teams to resolve booking in and invoice disputes.
- Support strategic customers effectively.
- Provide administrative support for general procurement, supply chain, and operational requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- MCIPS or working towards it is preferred.
- Ability to work strategically, tactically, and operationally.
- Proven negotiation skills, contract management, and the ability to forge relationships across all levels of the business.
- Commercial and financial acumen, with sound analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated "global mindset" with the ability to think across disciplines, industries, cultures, and scenarios.
- High work ethic with a strong focus on excellent customer service.
- Good presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical/safety regulatory information.
- Willingness to travel and work in a global team of professionals.
- Clean UK driving licence required.
- A strong culture fit – with a bias for action, accountability, and teamwork.
