Job Description
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in London for an Assistant Finance Manager to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will work alongside the Finance Manager for Family Services, with the main emphasis being on data collation and analysis. The postholder will need to create a list of looked after children (from a few sources) and build a new placement model.

Key Responsibilities

  • To co-ordinate the Budget Monitoring report for services within the remit of this role by setting up spreadsheets and tables to enhance financial monitoring and reporting and co-ordinating responses on forecasts and performance statistics by agreed deadlines.
  • Responsible for the provision of appropriate, accurate and timely budgetary control information to budget holders, including salaries monitoring and forecasting. Providing this service in accordance with agreed standards and targets.
  • Provide the full financial support function for designated service areas, including preparing estimates, closing tasks, and ad hoc financial advice. Providing this service in accordance with set standards and within deadlines.
  • Monitor all financial procedures to ensure financial regulations are being observed by officers within designated services. To report instances of non-compliance, errors, omissions or inadequacies in procedures to managers and suggest solutions.
  • Co-ordinate, monitor and review Efficiency/Value for Money statement details and any subsequent central government initiative to assess efficiency of the services.

Candidate Criteria

  • CCAB/CIMA Qualified Accountant with experience in public sector finance.
  • Experience of building/developing placement models and collating data for analysis.
  • Experience of budget setting/monitoring in Local Authority Finance
  • Great understanding of Childrens Social Care Finance
  • Great communication skills with the ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team
