Credit Controller

Principle Objectives and Responsibilities including the following, other objectives may be assigned:

To ensure that aged debtors remain within levels acceptable to the Company and as advised to you. This will include but is not limited to:
Chasing insurance brokers for payment of premiums in accordance with the Company Credit Control Procedures.
Checking Premium Credit to see when funding will be received and chasing Brokers for signed credit agreements
Producing Debtors lists.
Liaising with colleagues to decide how to deal with problem cases.
Sending Broker Statements via email on monthly basis

Invoice checking - identify invoices that have been generated incorrectly and refer them to the appropriate individual to be corrected.

Assisting with tasks in the Accounts Department. This may include but is not limited to:
Processing incoming payments
Authorising bank payments
Reconciling and settling insurer accounts
Checking the Aged Debt Report for credit balances and adding to cheque request list to be paid out to Brokers / Clients
Processing any return premiums or commission payments to Brokers
Handle incoming premium payments from Premium Credit.

Deal with telephone and email enquiries promptly referring the query to the appropriate person when the enquiry falls outside own knowledge and experience.

Ensure that all communications with insurers or customers are accurately recorded as per the Firm's usual procedures.

Other assigned tasks within the company in accordance with instructions from Directors.

Carry out regular training as appropriate to the position held and areas of activity, to maintain competencies in accordance with FCA requirements

Knowledge Required

Basic knowledge and understanding of insurance principles and processes.

Knowledge and understanding of FCA rules and guidelines relating to customers.

Knowledge and understanding of all company specific procedures.

Willingness to continue to develop knowledge of insurance and related issues through formal and informal learning, both internal to the firm, and externally.

Skills Required
