Job Title: Premises Assistant

Location: Mainstream Secondary School, Elephant & Castle

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (Until End of Academic Year, with an extension into December)

Pay Range: Dependent on Experience

Job Description:

As a Premises Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the school facilities and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This is a full-time, long-term position lasting until the end of the academic year, which would then extend into December.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the daily maintenance and upkeep of the school premises, including cleaning, repairs, and general maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure that the school grounds are safe and well-maintained, addressing any hazards promptly.
  • Support with setting up and taking down equipment for school events and activities.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Liaise with external contractors and service providers as required.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Respond to any urgent maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Assist in the management of the school's security systems, including locking and unlocking the premises.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a premises-based role is essential.
  • A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check on the update service is required.
  • Strong practical skills in maintenance and repairs.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time-management and organisational skills.
  • A proactive and reliable approach to work.
