Installation Technician - Rolling Contract
Job Title: Installation Technician - Contract
Location: UK/International
Remuneration: £Hourly Rate DOE (Pro-Rata)
Contract Details: Temporary, 3 months initial contract
Responsibilities:
- Successfully complete onsite RDS machine installation and upgrade projects while adhering to our client's installation, commissioning, quality, and local EHS procedures.
- Collaborate closely with the local projects team and installation manager to accurately schedule project delivery and meet customer expectations.
- Resolve onsite escalations in coordination with the projects and installation manager to ensure project timelines are maintained.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems during installations, coordinating additional parts deliveries with the plant, and modifying solutions in the field if necessary.
- Track hours and costs during installations, reporting these to the installation manager.
- Ensure all supporting ISO documentation is completed and sent to the installation manager.
- Work overtime, including unsociable hours and/or weekends, as required to ensure on-time project delivery.
- Strive to delight the customer and motivate the onsite team.
Requirements:
- Relevant Level 4 qualification in electro/mechanical engineering or equivalent experience (BS7671 18th edition required).
- Experience in an installation/service role, ideally involving similar technologies in the healthcare/pharmacy automation sector.
- Knowledge of electromechanical assemblies, subassemblies, mechanical tolerances, and machine building methodologies and materials (DIN).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure in a customer-facing environment.
- Ability to understand and work from complex mechanical and electrical schematics, including ACAD 2D/3D and EPLAN.
- Experience with configuring inverters, motors/servo drives, HMI, Digital IOs, and a deep understanding of IT networking topologies.
- PLC troubleshooting experience, ideally with S7, Beckhoff TC2/3, and Schneider SoMachine. VB scripting is an advantage.
- Experience in installing and commissioning complex downstream transport systems.
- Effective communication skills and fluent English are required; knowledge of other languages, particularly German, is desirable.
- Ability to work with hospital project teams and external client-side contractors.
