Tube Assembly & Test Technician - Shifts

Our client, a leader in detection technology, is currently seeking a Tube Assembly & Test Technician - Shifts to join their team in Salfords, Surrey. This role plays a crucial part in manufacturing and engineering, focusing on the assembly and testing of X-ray tubes used in advanced scanning systems. Our client serves various sectors, including ports, borders, military, and high-threat facilities, ensuring top-tier security solutions with their innovative designs and high-quality imaging performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the vacuum bake-out of X-ray tubes including diagnosis and rectification of vacuum leaks
  • Post bake-out Tube Activation, application of lead plates, tube assembly completion, and setup for testing of X-ray tubes
  • High Voltage conditioning and testing of X-ray tubes
  • Performing preventative maintenance on vacuum equipment and high voltage test rigs
  • Accurate and consistent recording of data, including the use of Excel
  • Using various plant equipment including vacuum bake-out ovens, conditioning rigs, and overhead gantry crane
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of processes and safe working practices
  • Basic fault finding on X-ray tubes, test equipment, and vacuum systems
  • Raising Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as required
  • Ensuring compliance with COSHH regulations
  • Organising and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a production, laboratory, R&D, or hi-tech engineering environment
  • Experience in operating sophisticated manufacturing, processing, or scientific equipment
  • Understanding of safe working practices and ensuring adherence to these practices
  • Technical qualifications in Engineering or Scientific discipline to ONC/HND level or significant experience in technical roles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on X-ray tubes or similar hi-tech/scientific equipment
  • Experience in a clean room environment
  • Knowledge of helium leak checking and basic maintenance of vacuum systems
  • Experience working in accordance with a Quality system and COSHH regulations
  • Familiarity with 5S, 6 Sigma Practices and handling compressed gas cylinders
  • Experience with lifting equipment such as gantry cranes
  • Experience in a hi-tech manufacturing or research environment
