The Surfacing Supervisor is responsible for the day to day planning, coordinating and supervision of surfacing squads to ensure contracts are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for adhering to and ensuring self and others follow health & safety and environmental compliance with Company policies, rules and expectations, as well as any legal obligations.
- Understand the contract requirement and allocate the required resources such as labour, plant, materials, traffic management etc.
- Supervise the works, by effectively communicating with the workforce to ensure that output targets are achieved, whilst high standards of workmanship are maintained.
- Communicate and liaise with clients, client's representatives, main contractors, sub-contractors or their representatives. Ensuring the Company's image, quality standards and service are achieved.
- Responsible for the measurement of works and agree values with the client, client's representatives, main contractors, sub-contractors or their representatives. You must maintain good relations and high standards of quality and service.
- Responsible for completion of risk assessments on each site under your remit and carrying out weekly health & safety audits. Ensure focused, proactive communication of any potential near miss/hazards within the work area to both the Company's Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager and Surfacing Contracts Manager.
- Responsible for keeping records as required by the company quality assurance procedures and specific contract requirements (such as dip sheets, laying records plant & labour returns etc.) and filing a weekly contracting report for each contract worked on.
- Create and deliver the content of daily briefings, toolbox talks and any site-specific induction prior to commencing work on site.
- Assist the Surfacing Manager to manage recruitment, induction, absenteeism and performance management within the squad.
Requirements
- You will have extensive supervisory experience within asphalt surfacing operations and a good working knowledge of Asphalt materials and characteristics, as well as surfacing methods and techniques.
- Pro-active attitude and understanding to Health & Safety, making suggestions to reduce or remove any identified risks
- You will have excellent interpersonal skills, strong team ethics and a flexible attitude towards business objectives and change.
- CSCS card and driving licence would be essential
