This is a 2 bed EBD home in Wolverhampton who provide support to vulnerable children and young people aged between 6 and 17 years. Their aim is that despite their challenging starts in life the young people are given the opportunity to go on to achieve their full potential. The home works alongside local authorities and families to provide a unified vision of progression, tailoring each young person's care plan to their exact needs. As well as giving their young people the best opportunities, this company also provides consistent development for their staff, working with external agencies to provide training opportunities. The company have a further 2 homes across Wolverhampton and work together to share experience and resources and plan to open 3 further homes in the next 12 months giving you plenty of opportunities for progression. There are also overtime opportunities throughout the business, maximising the chance of you increasing your hours, if this is something you would want to do.
Your new role
Your main role as a residential support worker will be ensuring the safety and comfort of the young people in your care. You will be working within an EBD children's homes, so as well as carry out tasks to ensure the smooth running of the home, you should also encourage the young people to have confidence and high self-esteem, but most importantly for them to have fun.
You will be working with young people from a variety of backgrounds, with some having experienced trauma in the past. With this, behaviour can be challenging and you will need to be adaptable. Despite the challenges, this will be a rewarding role.
What you'll need to succeed
At least 6 months experience in the last 2 years in similar settingsExperience and willingness to get involved and be a proactive member of the team, taking part in activitiesExperience in dealing with challenging behaviourBe passionate about supporting young people and giving them the best chancesExcellent communication both with service users and staff_Whilst a level 3 in children's and young people's workforce would be an advantage, as long as you have experience and willingness to learn, the company will enrol you on your qualification_
