An opportunity has become available to join my team of therapy assistants for a 6-month fixed term contract. This has the potential to be extended. I am looking for an enthusiastic, resilient, patient and reliable Child Therapy Assistant/Support Worker to help me engage in the activities I love and become more independent. You will need to be calm and patient under pressure and be able to apply a consistent approach.

I am 16 years old and sustained a brain injury as a baby and as a result I have complex needs, including behavioural, cognitive and physical. I struggle with regulating my emotions which leads to physical outbursts.

I can be funny and cheeky and am very caring towards those around me. I need to be active and busy; I really like to go on walks, listen to audio books and colouring. I find it difficult to form new relationships and need you to take the time to understand my needs. I need a little help with personal care but in the main I would like support so I can enjoy social and leisure activities, engage in therapy and further develop life skills for the future. I particularly enjoy going away with my team on short breaks. I have recently flown to Edinburgh and am looking forward to going further afield.

You will have experience of working with children or adults with complex needs and challenging behaviours. This role would be an excellent opportunity for a therapy student or psychology graduate who will enjoy being part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting with my therapy programme and assisting with my behaviour and care management plans.
