About the Role:
The role involves supporting the HGV Driver in delivering a prompt, reliable, and professional service to our customers. This includes helping to ensure that all tasks are carried out efficiently and to a high standard, contributing to the smooth operation of daily routes, and upholding the company's commitment to excellent customer service. You'll work closely with the driver to ensure timely deliveries, collections, and adherence to safety regulations, all while maintaining positive relationships with our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with or be responsible for the loading of Waste into the vehicle.
- Ensure paperwork, including all bin quantities and weights, are recorded clearly and correctly.
- Assist the Driver with washing and cleaning of the vehicle.
- Maintain contact with the Trade Waste Fleet Office notifying of any delays or missed collections.
- Assist the driver with his daily maintenance checks on the Vehicle.
- Ensure that correct PPE is worn at all times.
- Report any dangerous situation, occurrences, accidents, incidents or near misses to the Office immediately.
- Assist the driver, ensuring that all allocated work is completed within the Working Day.
- Assist the driver with directing vehicle manoeuvres. This will involve vacating the vehicle and clearly directing the driver in a safe and compliant manner.
- Represent the Company in the public eye and behave in an appropriate and professional manner.
- Report all accidents and incidents immediately to your fleet office or the Compliance Team and obtain details as required.
- Staff have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions at work.
- Staff must co-operate, report unsafe conditions and comply with the company management systems and safe systems of work as well as co—workers to help everyone meet their legal requirements.
- Cover the route during the driver's absence, ensuring all bins are collected efficiently and on schedule.
- Cover other routes as needed, maintaining strong knowledge across multiple routes
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Proficient in using satnav and tablets for route navigation and management.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Good geographic knowledge of London and the South East.
- Good road safety knowledge
Desirable:
- Previous experience in the Recycling Industry
- Banksman Qualified
