Deputy Senior Investigating Officer (DSIO) – Operation Northleigh
Location: Peel Centre, Hendon, London
Contract: Full-time, Temporary (Minimum 12 months)
Pay: £32.55/hour PAYE or £42.38/hour Umbrella
Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days agile working)
Vetting: CTC clearance required (fast-tracked)

The Metropolitan Police Service is seeking a highly experienced Deputy Senior Investigating Officer (DSIO) to support Operation Northleigh, the investigation into the Grenfell Tower fire. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant case and deliver justice for the bereaved, survivors, and residents (BSRs) of Grenfell Tower.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead major aspects of the investigation and deputise for the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO).
- Engage with the BSR community to ensure their voices remain central to the investigation.
- Oversee the evaluation of 152+ million documents, 12,800+ witness statements, and 28,000+ lines of enquiry.
- Build comprehensive case files for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and lead future prosecutions.
- Investigate 20 organisations and 58 individuals for serious offences including corporate manslaughter, gross negligence manslaughter, and misconduct in public office.
- Manage a team of up to 100 staff and an annual budget exceeding £20 million.
- Represent the MPS in external audits, inspections, and reviews.
Essential Skills & Experience
- PIP3 accreditation and HOLMES SIO qualified.
- Proven leadership in major crime investigations and Crown Court proceedings.
- Experience managing complex CPIA disclosure and high-profile risk environments.
- Strong communication, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to lead through cultural change and manage media engagement.
