We are seeking a visionary Head of Science to join a well-regarded secondary school in Kettering, rated "good" by Ofsted. This leadership role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator with a passion for science and a proven track record in teaching and management.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Lead the Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained.
- Develop and implement innovative curriculum plans that engage and inspire students across all science disciplines.
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes academic excellence and a love for science.
- Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, using data to inform strategies for improvement.
- Mentor and support science teachers, fostering professional development and sharing best practices.
- Work collaboratively with senior leadership to ensure departmental goals align with the school's overall strategy.
- Uphold health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within all science activities.
- Spearhead initiatives to enhance STEM education and encourage participation in science-related extracurricular activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in a science-related subject with a strong academic background.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant experience teaching science at the secondary level.
- Demonstrable excellence in teaching and leadership within a secondary school environment.
- In-depth understanding of the UK National Curriculum and examination boards.
- Exceptional organisational and communication skills.
- Inspirational leadership qualities with the ability to motivate students and staff.
- Experience in curriculum development and a commitment to innovative teaching practices.
