We are seeking a visionary Head of Science to join a well-regarded secondary school in Kettering, rated "good" by Ofsted. This leadership role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator with a passion for science and a proven track record in teaching and management.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead the Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained.
  • Develop and implement innovative curriculum plans that engage and inspire students across all science disciplines.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes academic excellence and a love for science.
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, using data to inform strategies for improvement.
  • Mentor and support science teachers, fostering professional development and sharing best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to ensure departmental goals align with the school's overall strategy.
  • Uphold health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within all science activities.
  • Spearhead initiatives to enhance STEM education and encourage participation in science-related extracurricular activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in a science-related subject with a strong academic background.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant experience teaching science at the secondary level.
  • Demonstrable excellence in teaching and leadership within a secondary school environment.
  • In-depth understanding of the UK National Curriculum and examination boards.
  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills.
  • Inspirational leadership qualities with the ability to motivate students and staff.
  • Experience in curriculum development and a commitment to innovative teaching practices.
  • Dedication to continuous professional development and staying updated with educational advancements.
