Who we're looking for

NFU Energy is the go-to energy consultant for agriculture and related industries, providing advice on all aspects of energy, from procuring energy contracts through our brokerage team, to sourcing and recommending energy solutions. We're looking for an experienced and successful Energy Contract Sales Team Leader to join our energy contract sales team. This is an exciting opportunity to help grow our business by securing new customers, selling additional services to existing customers and cross selling to other departments.

Your role will be to lead the SME Sales Team and oversee the end-to-end sales process for electricity and gas contracts for SME businesses. You must have a proven track record in successfully managing a team, delivering excellent customer service, and demonstrating a strong understanding of UK energy markets. Your role will include achieving your own sales targets alongside the team, setting an example to follow.

Experience working in an energy or utility broker would be a distinct advantage, but your ability to learn quickly and demonstrate a proactive and can-do approach will be key to your success.

What you'll get to do:

  • Lead the SME Sales team to meet and exceed renewal and new business sales targets to achieve business revenue objectives
  • Manage the performance of sales consultants
  • Deputise for the Head of Department as required
  • Lead by example and provide appropriate sales coaching and training to the team
  • Oversee a collaborative and effective working relationship between sales and administration teams
  • Develop and maintain an efficient, suitable sales process
  • Distribute work and ensure that it is completed within given timeframes, quality standards and agreed SLA's.
  • Achieve personal financial sales and objectives

What you'll need to succeed:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSE's grade A-C or equivalent, you will need to have strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Business to business sales experience including telesales
  • Proven people manager experience
  • Exceptional organisational skills and experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and listen effectively with a range of audiences
  • Proven record of establishing effective working relationships
  • Good judgement skills – be able to identify issues/opportunities and allocate time/resource accordingly
  • Intermediate IT skills including Excel and Word
  • Good commercial acumen

What you will get

A salary of £34,000 to £36,000 depending on experience plus commission, 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays), company benefits including pension, group life assurance (3 times salary), NFU membership and more.

You will be based at our office in Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We support work-life balance and operate a hybrid working policy with a mixture of home and office working available.
