Accounts Payable Clerk

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to manage all aspects of Accounts Payable for our diverse and exciting client who are highly regarded in the tourism and events industry.

Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, you will form collaborative relationships with all finance team members and the Head of Procurement. The position is office-based, offering a dynamic work environment and flexibility working hours for 37.5 hours a week.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Prepare fortnightly AP payment runs and monthly staff expenses runs for approval.
  • Match purchase orders to invoices and regularly review and chase unauthorised POs.
  • Ensure correct general ledger coding of all purchase orders, invoices, and credit notes.
  • Conduct monthly supplier statement reconciliations and company credit card reconciliations.
  • Reconcile receipts and perform PPS reconciliation.
  • Manage bank reconciliations f
  • Review and continuously improve the business process framework of all AP processes.
  • Assist with HMRC, audit, tax, and team enquiries.
  • Manage the AP function
  • Support the Group Finance Director on ad hoc strategic financial management matters.
  • Post intercompany journals and create strong relationships with suppliers to resolve invoice and payment queries.
  • Process new account application forms and support the onboarding of new suppliers.
  • Respond to emails/invoice queries and follow agreed escalation policies.
  • Communicate and provide training to group staff as required

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in Purchase Ledger.
  • Experience in hospitality, catering, events & leisure sectors is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Netsuite and Procure Wizard is advantageous.
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel user.
  • Exceptional communication skills at all levels is required
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Articulate with an engaging communication style.
  • Professional manner and a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making.
  • High integrity, respect, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
