Campaigns and Communications Officer

Our local authority client based in South London are urgently seeking an experienced Campaigns & Communications Officer.

*£43.43 an hour Umbrella*

Purpose

To contribute to the delivery of the authority's campaign programme. To make full use of digital channels and work with the policy team and communications teams to help the council achieve its objectives.

Accountabilities

  1. Provide advice and make recommendations based on up to date knowledge and analysis / evaluation of information. Manage escalated or complex customer issues within the relevant area.
  2. Collate process and analyse information / data. Translate outputs into advisory reports / documents / actions as appropriate.
  3. Lead on the development, implementation, maintenance and management of systems, policies, procedures and / or standards within area of responsibility.
  4. Work closely with others to support/Manage the development and delivery of improvements in processes and procedures.
  5. Prepare and present a full range of reports (both standard and nonstandard) covering area of responsibility
  6. Co-operate with and support colleagues.
  7. Act in accordance with all policies and procedures which apply to the job and understand the reasons for this.
  8. Carry out all duties and responsibilities with reasonable care for the health and safety of self and others and report any potential hazards or unsafe practices to line manager.
  9. To support the team in delivering high quality award-winning campaigns that enable the council to deliver its priorities.
  10. To make the best use of available channels across the wide spectrum of communications disciplines.
  11. To have a good professional knowledge and some experience of the core professional disciplines of marketing, media, internal and digital communications.
  12. To deliver campaigns ensuring all activity is monitored and evaluated and reported back regularly to the organisation.
  13. To be responsible for the improvement of the Council's digital channels and aware of any new developments in digital channels and how we might use them.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Knowledge of the use of digital media and familiarity of different digital channels.
  • Experience of creating video and infographics for digital platforms.
  • Experience of working across a range of communications specialisms including media, campaigns, marketing and events.
  • Experience of working pressured environment and delivering results to tight deadlines.
  • A knowledge of national, regional, local and specialist press.
  • Basic knowledge of local government, the services provided by local councils, and the responsibilities a council has to its residents.
