Our client is a worldwide payments organisation, authorised and overseen by the FCA in the UK. The offer a range of different payment services covering POS, ecommerce and everything in between, supporting merchants with painless and efficient payment solutions.

Business Development Manager – The Role:

Our client is looking for a Business Development Manager to join their expanding Direct Sales team. The position is based in the UK but offers a flexible/remote arrangement, granting you the autonomy to identify potential customers and partners across the UK ranging from startups to enterprises.

This role primarily focuses on generating new business, with a specific emphasis on profitability through self-generated relationships with merchants. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a completely self-generated environment and can apply our client's payment solutions to address customer challenges effectively and more importantly ensure that the customer sees the value in the product.

Business Development Manager – Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively seek out new potential merchants and introducers, advocating the advantages of our client's array of products and services
  • Identify primary hurdles faced by merchants and partners, then address these issues by applying suitable products and services while maintaining profitable terms
  • Engage in negotiations for commercial and contractual terms, with full support available from Line Manager, Department Director, and Pricing Manager as needed for approval
  • Oversee the post-sale care of newly acquired customers until they are ready to transition to an Account Manager
  • Cultivate and nurture introducer relationships by fostering rapport and expanding their roster of referred merchants
  • Maintain up-to-date records in CRM systems to ensure accurate reporting, forecasting, and pipeline management
  • Act as a representative at relevant trade events when necessary
  • Traveling to meetings with prospective clients and partners to enhance the quality of discussions and address identified issues more effectively

Business Development Manager – You:

  • 5+ years of experience in sales within a payment environment
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of selling payment solutions
  • Proven track record in SaaS sales
  • Demonstrated success with large transactions and lengthy sales campaigns in a fast-paced, consultative and competitive market
  • Solid abilities in negotiation and planning, along with effective communication and strong commercial acumen
  • An existing network of merchants and clients would be advantageous
