We are seeking a dedicated Facilities Officer to join our team. This role is crucial in maintaining an attractive, safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment. The Facilities Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks including caretaking, portering, repairs, maintenance, and emergency responses.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and operate building management, security, and safety systems.
  • Provide assistance and support to Security colleagues, reacting to alarms, incidents, emergencies, and supporting premises evacuation procedures as a Fire Warden.
  • Ensure the premises are securely opened and closed.
  • Perform reactive and planned maintenance duties.
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the College and grounds, including graffiti removal and litter collection.
  • Provide a visible, friendly, and helpful presence around the College, identifying and reporting property damage and faults.
  • Liaise with and monitor Contractors to ensure compliance with the College's safety and safeguarding procedures.
  • Manage incoming orders, maintain stock levels, and order equipment and supplies.
  • Utilize the College vehicle for post runs and deliveries between sites, including vehicle maintenance.
  • Set up and porterage duties for events and respond to requests via two-way radio.
  • Log, prioritise, and close work requests reported via the Helpdesk.
  • Maintain onsite storage containers and bin yard areas in a safe and tidy condition.
  • Assist with accidents and emergencies affecting the building, grounds, or its users.
  • Organise furniture and equipment for events and manage consumable materials like janitorial supplies.
  • Work flexibly, which may include evenings and weekends.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in facilities management or a similar role.
  • Ability to operate and monitor building management systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work flexibly and respond to emergencies.
  • Driving license and ability to operate a college vehicle.
