Security Leading Officer

Successful candidates will have a proactive approach to security and will be able to fit into a team that performs to high standards and provides high visibility Security Static and Mobile Guarding at the properties/building and surrounding grounds.

You will be days and nights, on a 21-day rolling roster, 3 days 4 nights on, 3 offs, 4 days 3 nights on, 4 offs, 56 hours per week, on a permanent, full-time basis.

Principal accountabilities:

This role will include a variety of tasks but is not limited to the following:

  • Comply with the adopted Code of Practice and service operational procedures at all times, breaches of which will result in disciplinary action being taken.
  • Follow protocols for maintaining the security of the CCTV Control Room and its facilities
  • Report any incidents that occur immediately to the Police or report to another relevant agency and provide support/commentary to the Police and/or other relevant agency.
  • Maintain accurate records of data recordings and events
  • To provide the first response to intruder alarm call
  • To provide written reports on all incidents of crime & disorder
  • Maintain close liaison with the Police and relevant authorities
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus.
  • Ensure safety of customers and all staff.
  • To operate and monitor the CCTV systems to activate and manage access control in line with the client requirements.
  • Dispatching security officers as required via telephone and/or radio or messenger
  • Must be able to handle difficult situations and the ability to work in a demanding environment.
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills, along with the ability to pay attention to detail whilst remaining calm, patient and professional.
  • Liaise on a daily basis with staff + the client and operational management teams.
  • Check and manage work to permit and corresponding access control to authorised areas

  • Ensuring that 1st aid equipment is accounted for
  • Liaising with contractors as and when requires.
  • Site induction for the new staff and/or contractors.
  • Liaising with Police and other public bodies to ensure a coordinated approach and awareness of local issues.
  • Dealing with communications from telephone calls and radio users in a professional manner in accordance with operating procedures
  • Must be able to work under pressure and be able to make decisive decisions during incidents and difficult situations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all the client's departments.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Be conversant with all statutory compliance processes and procedures.
  • Ensure that all OCS policies, procedures, and standards are in place and adhered to.
  • Maintain day-to-day contact with the customer's representatives and attend meetings/Toolbox Talks as directed.
  • Able to carry out internal and external patrols and long periods of standing.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
  • The job role requires time-to-time manual handling i.e., Tensor barriers/Metal Crowd Control Barriers and other tasks required on the client's site.
  • Exemplary standards in personal grooming, strictly adhering to the site uniform requirements.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to be of assistance to visitors and staff at the building proactively offering assistance wherever opportunities arise.
  • To deal efficiently and effectively with emergencies including fire and bomb scares ensuring the building management team and colleagues are kept fully informed at all times.
  • Intelligent understanding of human behaviour, monitoring, and surveillance of suspect individuals logging and reporting incidents in line with site and company policies.
  • Maintain vigilance and highlight/manage unauthorised access by banned persons.
  • To be aware of the Company's Health and Safety Policy and carry out your duties in accordance with its requirements.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

Person specification:

  • Security Industry Qualifications - Front line SIA/CCTV Licence for Security Officers.
  • Covering Security Control Room
  • A good Level of interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer relationship skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to demonstrate and deliver high-quality guarding and excellent customer service to both our clients and service users.
  • You should be both welcoming and representative of the 'five-star' feel of the building and the client we are representing.
  • A professional demeanour with sound judgment and integrity.
  • All applicants who are offered employment will be subject to a criminal record check (Disclosure) from the Criminal Records Bureau before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of ALL cautions, reprimands, or final warnings as well as convictions, whether "spent" or "unspent". Criminal convictions will only be considered when they are relevant to the post.
  • An understanding of basic Police and other Emergency Services procedures.
  • Knowledge of the phonetic alphabet.
  • Experience of hand-held radio use.
  • Future SIA/CCTV licenses to be funded by the officer.
  • First aid at work certificate.
  • You must be able to remain calm and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
  • You will have a resilient approach to your guarding duties.
