Management Accountant

Responsibilities:

  • Acting as a specialist point of contact for teams, dealing and responding effectively with queries from stakeholders and passing on relevant information to appropriate team members.
  • Provide timely management accounting information on lead areas providing variance analysis and year end forecasting with specific narrative where applicable in analysing and interpreting risks to financial balance, including budget development and planning.
  • Working with all team members in the collection of information for financial performance reporting on relevant team projects, maintaining and controlling a range of IT and other systems.
  • To provide financial support to the financial planning cycle and service development ensuring that managers contribute to the objective of financial surplus/balance for the ICB.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of processes and systems, particularly in relation to budgetary control and contract/financial management, establishment control, reporting, payroll and recruitment, introducing new systems, policies and procedures where appropriate.
  • The post holder will need to contribute to and analyse benchmarking returns and published statistics to inform development decisions including programme budgeting.
  • Provide expert management accounting support to budget holders on all of the ICBs Corporate budgets, on all aspects of the budgeting and financial planning so that they contribute to the objective of financial balance for the ICB.
  • Provide financial risk management advice on any service development implications
  • Specific lead for maintaining and reporting on the ICB's running costs including reconciliation of payroll reports and non-pay staffing costs, liaising with budget holders and producing monthly reports on variances and actions agreed

Person Specification

Experience , Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Educated to a degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
  • Experience coordination projects in complex and challenging environments
  • Experience in stakeholder management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management
  • Expert knowledge of MS Packages including word, excel, PowerPoint and outlook
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Previous experience in a similar role in Public Sector (desirable)
  • A good understanding of the health and social care environment and roles and responsibilities within it (desirable)

  • Skilled communicator with excellent writing, report writing and presentation skills: Capable of constructing and delivering clear ideas with concepts concisely and accurately for diverse audiences
