Targeted Youth Support Case Support Worker

Until the establishment of this project team, the service had a low number of young people who were NEET, and this post is part of the project to address this.

The ETE worker who will be part of the team assisting our young people to get into education, training, and employment.

This service is required as part of the local authority's local offer for our care experienced adults.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Working closely with the EET Coordinator and Personal Advisors plan and achieve a viable education, training and employment pathway for care leavers through direct work with young people.

2. Maintain weekly contact with the active NEET caseload and record all engagement and non engagement on Mosaic, clearly evidencing all methods and attempts to engage with the YP seeking further direction from the Lead worker if necessary

3. To act as a support worker within the team, evaluate and respond to EET referrals take appropriate action and give appropriate advice, information and assistance.

4. Assist EET Coordinator with planning and preparing provisions booklet and update notice board with opportunities and promote events

5. Assist EET Coordinator planning and delivering activities to enhance young people's chances of doing better in education, training and employment

6. Support young people with all application processes: college, university, job/grants/bursaries/scholarships

7. Assist EET Coordinator with carrying out recruitment drives

8. Assist EET Coordinator with maintaining and updating EET database

Participate in reviews, case conferences and other meetings and report to EET Coordinator for follow up support

Knowledge

Knowledge of financial support available to care leavers in post 18 education including grants, bursaries and scholarships

Knowledge of the barriers affecting care leavers progression in education, training, employment and an understanding of how to overcome these.

Knowledge of post 16 education and training provisions/options including apprenticeships/traineeship/internship options

Knowledge of higher education application processes, including accommodation issues and student loan management

Knowledge of local and national education, training and employment providers

Demonstrate a thorough understanding of current labour market issues and requirements, and good practice within employment support.

Qualifications & Experience

Good general education and evidence of high standard of literacy and numeracy

Good command of standard software packages in particular MS Excel

Evidence of securing work experience/placements for young people lacking work experience

Direct work experience with children in care and leaving care, as individuals and in groups.

Experience of working with young people who have been NEET and

experienced disruption in education
