Full time hours on a temporary basis

  • The Platform Specialist role is to ensure the day to day running of the production servers, operating system, cloud environments, Office 365 collaboration applications, SAAS applications, network, backups and internet security infrastructure while ensuring high levels of systems availability.
  • The post holder will act as a subject matter expert in their expertise area and provide advice to other ICT team members, participate in technology strategic activities, help in formulating technology roadmaps and create a good governance structure to ensure investment on technologies are fully utilised.
  • Manage the Technical Support team on a day to day basis, task allocation, resource planning and monitoring staff work by providing technical advice and mentoring. The post holder is also expected to ensure that the calls escalation from other ICT Support Teams are handled in a professional manner by ensuring end users are kept up to date on the progress of the call and the call is completed in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • This postholder will have an influence over £4m on day to day operational contracts and another £4m over Capital projects. This sum may vary over time depending on the transformation agenda.
  • Assist in managing major multi-million-pound supplier contracts ensure suppliers obligations are fully met.
  • Monitor and influence capital project budgets to a value of up to £4 million per annum.
  • Monitor and influence revenue expenditure on Microsoft cloud platforms (excluding staff) of approximately £2 million per annum
  • Monitor and influence revenue expenditure with outsourced partners (LAN/WAN, Applications Management, Azure platform support) of approximately £1.5 million per annum.
  • Represent ICT Operation services at CAB, ensuring that all production infrastructure changes are approved before the work is undertaken. This includes reviewing and approving change requests and being a member of the CAB board.
  • Contribute towards the management of the budgets for Azure and Office 365 environments including effective use of licenses, identify cost savings where possible and implement prudent cost control measures.
  • Ensure that projects delivered for the live environment are fit for purpose and ensure it can be supported. This includes facilitating handover of the infrastructure to Support. Also, ensuring all documentation required is provided and is reviewed for accuracy.
  • Develop and implement processes that allow the identification of problems early and ensure they are solved in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Co-ordinate administration processes between key internal and external stakeholders in line with policies and procedures ensuring legal compliance.
  • Ensure security compliance administration and monitoring, including data protection requests.
  • Compile reports and statistical data to ensure service delivery levels and standards are tracked and managed and administered in line with policy, ensuring legal compliance.
