Business Development Manager

Your new company
You will be working at a public sector organisation based in Birmingham supporting the business development of business support opportunities for start-up businesses. You will join the team as soon as possible on a fixed-term contract until March 2025.
Your new role
As Business Development Manager, you will ensure business recruitment targets are met and engagement throughout the programme is maximised. You will develop successful engagement strategies and drive success throughout the team. You need to engage all stakeholders through your creative and driven attitude. You will communicate with the wider community to build key relationships. You will work in a fast-paced working environment and develop numerous programmes within the team. As Business Development Manager you will work towards sales targets of actively selling programmes to businesses, exceeding meeting targets and helping support recruitment targets. You will drive engagement and growth, which work as an essential contributor through engaging relationships. You must be a strategic individual with a development mindset to ensure you have a robust business engagement strategy to achieve and exceed targets. You will be heavily involved in stakeholder management, ensuring all relationships are valued and enhanced. You must be able to attract applicants through your development. You will also be involved in events and networking through the delivery of presentations. Within your role, you will also have a large communications responsibility in handling all communications about the programmes whilst promoting the university.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a proven and driven Business Development Manager with experience of working in a dynamic and fast-paced team. Ideally, you will come from a public sector organisation with an understanding of business development within a similar public sector background with the same end goals. You must be able to demonstrate your enthusiasm during the interview and showcase where you have clearly worked towards and achieved targets. To be successful in this role, you must hold a professional qualification/degree in business, marketing or events. You must have experience in business development and/or marketing engagement and be able to demonstrate your proven track record of business for business recruitment and relationship management. You must be able to demonstrate experience of events and your involvement in the organisation and delivery, both virtual and in person. You must be able to be able to demonstrate your successful collection of data and the process of such data. You must have experience of working with a team to achieve a team goal as well as personal achievements. Please note, there is likely to be a presentation involved in the interview process for this role. To be successful, it is important you have confidence in your communication skills as this role is customer facing. Attention to detail and organisation skill is important in this role combined with your IT skill set. You must have experience of using social media and generating digital marketing materials for business development.
