About the role

Provide professional surveying services and project management, particularly those involving structural, dimensional and topographical surveys and design solutions, to the City Council's stock of dwellings, buildings and land managed by Landlord Services. Ensure work carried out is of the highest quality and achieves value for money.

Plan, monitor and control all aspects of the programme, seeking best practice, ideas and innovation and ensuring they are applied to the project. Achieve the project's objectives within the defined schedules, costs and performance parameters.

Take ownership, be responsible and accountable for all aspects of the project, programme or service from end-to-end and, in particular, to champion the experience of the customer in order to maximise customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  1. Carry out structural surveys and provide detailed reports, assessments and design solutions, as required.
  2. Provide detailed design advice to project/programme managers/supervisors for major construction projects and programmes.
  3. Achieve programme objectives through the application of appropriate project methodology, by;
  • Defining scope of projects and programmes
  • Setting up appropriate project structures
  • Identifying and securing resource requirements
  • Achieving project team commitment
  • Ensuring quality control and reporting progress
  • Preparing and delivering to programme plans
  • Validating all required authorisations
  • Preparing and completing post-implementation review
  • Regular communication of progress between all stakeholders
  • Continued effective consultation and, if appropriate, re-adjustment of priorities and objectives.
  • Ensuring value for money.
  1. Be responsible for providing the following services:-
  • Site inspections, structural surveys and reports on work in progress
  • Drawings, specifications and schedules of rates
  • Surveys and technical reports
  • Making Building Regulation, planning and other applications
  • Certifying payments
  • Updating job records
  • Advice on forms of building contracts and consultants agreements
  • Assist in the preparation of reports to Boards or Committees
  • Leaseholder Notices
  • Act as a professional witness in court cases
