Finance Officer

SF are currently recruiting for a Finance Officer, for a public sector client located in Sheffield that offers flexible and hybrid working. The role is on a temporary/contract basis paying a salary between £26,487 & £29,085, pro rata until 31st March 2025.

The purpose of this role is to directly support the Accountants (and indirectly the Finance Business Partners) in the provision of clear, accurate and timely financial information in accordance with corporate timetables.

Duties to consist of:

- Complete all working papers relevant to role and assist with reviewing other schedules to ensure they are maintained in accordance with accounting standards and audit requirements.
- Bank and Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Maintain Fixed Asset Register - Additions, Disposals and Depreciation
- Ensuring that costs are accurately coded, recorded and monitored, charges are calculated accurately, and income is collected promptly
- Analyse and update both the staff costings, special costings and national framework agreement costings, gathering information from various sources to arrive at the costs
- Complete journals, analyse income and expenditure and calculate costs. This also includes Freedom of Information requests.
- Prepare and Submit VAT Returns
- Assist with Audit

This is a generic role profile that encompasses all anticipated roles and responsibilities for this post. Other duties commensurate with the grade of the post.

The successful applicant will either be a full member of the association of accounting technicians or studying at AAT. You'll hold experience of working in a financial environment including budgetary control and year end procedures, have the ability to analyse, critically evaluate and interpret financial information, as well as have experience of using a computerised financial information system in a medium to large organisation (including General Ledger). Further to this, you will be computer literate with experience of analysing and presenting information using spreadsheets

It is also desirable that you have knowledge of financial controls, rules regulations, come from a public Sector background and hold experience of using Oracle.

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment
