Field Service Engineer - Laboratory Equipment

  • Salary Guide: Up to £32,000 pa, DOE, plus excellent benefits

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join this long established innovative scientific instrumentation equipment manufacturer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, service, repair and installation for laboratory equipment to their UK and international customers.

This is an office-based role in Saffron Walden, that will also require regular UK and international travel to visit customers locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime and ensure continuous operation.
  • Calibrate and validate laboratory equipment according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Manage customer relationships to resolve critical situations in the fastest way possible, providing the best possible customer service
  • Provide service training for staff and distributors on the proper operation and maintenance of equipment to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Document service activities, including service reports, IQ/OQ, RAMS, method statements etc.
  • Stay current with advancements in laboratory technology and recommend upgrades or modifications to improve equipment performance.
  • Assistance in testing of existing and new products for QA, troubleshooting, R&D etc.
  • Be prepared to carry out any other general duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the Technical Services team and the company in general.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience working in an equipment service environment preferably on laboratory instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, instruction manuals etc. for electro-mechanical equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Fully IT literate with standard Microsoft Office packages.
  • Full UK driving licence.
