Senior Accountant

Cedar is currently partnered with a highly regarded Law firm with an impressive history and reputation, to help them secure a Senior Accountant. The role is to support the Financial Controller and would be based in their Waterloo office 3 days per week. The role is a 3-6 month initial contract, paying a day rate between £400-450 on an Umbrella company basis.

The Company

The firm is going through a period of expansion and development. This role will support the FC in managing the monthly and annual financial close processes while driving process improvements.

The Role

As Interim Senior Accountant, you will:

  • Operate the monthly financial close process, including preparation of GL journal entries, P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations, and quarterly VAT returns.
  • Analyse financial variances and provide commentary to clarify key drivers, while supporting the Financial Controller in resolving legacy reconciling items and improving month-end processes.
  • Focus on continual process improvement, providing guidance to less experienced team members, and managing ad-hoc projects such as transitioning reconciliations to the Blackline system.
  • Effectively communicate with other offices and finance teams, responding to ad-hoc data requests, and assist with the annual financial audit to ensure accurate and timely information.

Your Profile

You will ideally have:

  • A formal Accountancy Qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CA, etc).
  • Proven experience in a blended statutory and management accounting role.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with the flexibility to adapt to changing business needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
