The main purpose of the Grounds Maintenance Operative role is to assist the landscape team in the day-to-day landscape tasks. The tasks of the Grounds Maintenance Operative will include mowing and strimming together with general landscape tasks such as clearing leaves, maintaining tree guards and generally keeping the area tidy.

The landscape team is made up of a Landscape Lead and two experienced Operatives, the Grounds Maintenance Operatives fixed term position will be on a contract for an initial period of 3 months.

Monday to Thursday, 8am-430pm.

The Grounds Maintenance Operative position will adhere to health and safety which includes risk assessment, maintenance of machinery. The role will be outdoors, and the person should be able to work in all weather conditions and environments.

Key responsibilities

  • The Grounds Maintenance Operative position takes an active role in the landscape team. These duties include mowing of formal grass areas and the maintenance of grounds
  • During quieter periods, they will help with tree planting.
  • Comply with company policy and best practise in security, legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure H&S responsibilities are fulfilled.

Essential skills and attributes

  • It is essential that the landscape fixed term position has an eye for detail and can perform tasks given to a high standard and quality.
  • Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the tasks and be able to complete them as a team or alone.
  • The ability to work within and established team and contractors to complete objectives given by the Landscape Lead. The ability to listen to others and accept feedback positively and constructively. Able to share knowledge by communicating with focus, simplicity and clarity.
  • Sound problem solving skills and the ability to work on your own initiative. The ability to identify and recognise problems and to unpick them and develop sensible and robust solutions.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions and environments.
  • Due to the rural location of the site, you should have a UK driving licence and your own transport.
