Senior Infrastructure Engineer

  • Location: London, Epsom.
  • Hybrid working model. 1 day a week in office.
  • Salary: Competitive

A new exciting opportunity for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer has become available with a leading client of ours to manage, monitor, and support their extensive Server Infrastructure. This is a hands-on role within the Production Operations Team, and they will want you to be instrumental in full efficiency across their physical and virtual server environments, VMware, backup solutions, and DHCP services.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Install, configure, and manage VMware infrastructure components and Windows servers.
  • Manage virtual machines, storage, and network resources within the VMware environment.
  • Monitor performance, conduct optimizations, and ensure infrastructure security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, including server failures and virtual machine crashes.
  • Support and monitor the global infrastructure server environment using tools like vRops, HP One View, and SCOM.
  • Respond to incidents and manage capacity for server resources.
  • Coordinate with hardware vendors for server hardware issues.
  • Administer Hyper-V servers and manage HPE C7000 Enclosures and Synergy 12000 Frames.
  • Provide on-call support during non-business hours on weekends (compensated) and visit data centres as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • L3 Infrastructure Engineer supporting Windows VMware, Hyper-V infrastructure in a production operation capacity.
  • Experience supporting an environment of 2000+ servers in production.
  • Linux is highly advantageous. Along with Citrix, Storage.
  • Proficiency in Windows 2012/2016/2019 server platforms and VMware vSphere environment (6.x/7.x).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across L1/L2/L3 infrastructure issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork, collaboration skills.
  • Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) are advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
