Children's Disability Coordinator

  • Annual Salary: £26,000 - £29,000 (Coordinator) / £29,120 - £33,280 (Senior Coordinator) dependent on qualifications and experience

  • Job Type: Full-time, 35 hours per week

We are looking for a Children's Disability Coordinator or Senior Coordinator to join our team, delivering an exciting range of Short Breaks activity clubs for children and young people aged 5 - 17 with additional needs and disabilities. This role is based at the Centre and involves managing and leading Short Breaks Clubs in Mole Valley.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Plan and deliver a structured programme of enjoyable, recreational, high-quality activities tailored to children and young people with additional needs and disabilities.
  • Lead and line manage a team of workers and volunteers, assisting in recruitment and training of the Disability sessional team.
  • Coordinate the planning, allocation of places, and staffing to ensure safe delivery of Short Breaks clubs.
  • Process new referrals, conduct initial assessments, and develop individual care plans and associated risk assessments.
  • Develop strategies and behavioural support plans for young people attending activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted requirements and conduct ongoing monitoring of Short Breaks clubs.
  • Administer medication for children and young people with health needs after relevant training.
  • Work closely with families to identify a range of social, recreational, and leisure activities to meet the needs of young people and children.
  • Ensure all young people feel valued and are enabled to develop self-esteem, life skills, and self-confidence.
  • Gain feedback from young people to shape and evaluate future club sessions.
  • Be responsible for the Health and Safety of children, young people, and staff, ensuring adherence to Safeguarding policies.
  • Provide information, guidance, and advice for parent/carers about local services.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings and forums related to the services.
  • Provide operational Coordinator cover for other Disability Services or locations as required.
  • Design and deliver training sessions to staff.
  • Undertake the role of Duty Officer at the Sovereign Centre as agreed with the Disability Services Manager.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Relevant Level 3 professional qualification (for Senior Coordinator role).
  • A minimum of 2 years' relevant delivery experience (for Senior Coordinator role).
  • Experience in planning and delivering activities for children and young people with additional needs and disabilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Ofsted requirements and safeguarding policies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including families and local services.
