Job Summary:

As the Project Director, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of a high-profile project within the space engineering sector. You will lead and manage a multidisciplinary team, ensuring that all project objectives are met within the stipulated timeframe and budget. Your expertise in the space, aerospace, or defense industries will be crucial in navigating the complexities of this ambitious project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of the 5-year space engineering project, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Team Management: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing project team, fostering collaboration and ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and industry partners, to ensure project alignment and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage the project budget, ensuring financial efficiency and accountability.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all project deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders, detailing project progress, challenges, and solutions.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Space Science, or a related field. A Master's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

  • Experience:

  • Proven track record in project management within the space, aerospace, or defense industries.

  • Experience in leading large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.

  • Technical Expertise: In-depth understanding of space engineering principles and practices.

  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and drive high performance.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.

  • Certification: PMP or equivalent project management certification is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the UK and European space sectors, including regulatory and compliance frameworks.
  • Network: Established network within the space, aerospace, or defense industries.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel as required by the project.
