Our client is seeking a Central Finance Manager to join their dynamic team in Liverpool. This newly created role, due to growth, offers an exciting opportunity to work within a global business, processing and reviewing period end accounts across multiple Business Units. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring balance sheet accuracy and management, implementing a strong control environment, and working collaboratively across the Finance division to deliver results on time. This role offers a competitive salary of £50,000 - £55,000, hybrid working with only two days per week required in the office, and a range of benefits including up to 10% company pension contributions.

What you'll do:

You will play a pivotal role in our client's Accounting Services team. You will be responsible for processing and reviewing period end accounts across multiple Business Units while ensuring balance sheet accuracy. Your role will involve maintaining a strong control environment and collaborating effectively across the Finance division. You will also manage FX, commodity and derivative hedge transactions where applicable. Additionally, you will have line management responsibility within the AS team.

  • Support and review period end processes with oversight of Financial/Assistant Accountants
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations across multiple Business Units, highlighting risks and opportunities to Senior Management and key stakeholders
  • Maintain controls across the GL process
  • Accurately report VAT and other statutory returns
  • Handle FX, commodity and derivative hedge transactions and accounting where applicable
  • Provide forecasting, variance analysis and priority account reviews to the business and key stakeholders
  • Manage a small team of Accounts Assistants, overseeing their work, objectives and study progress

What you bring:

The ideal candidate will bring strong attention to detail and organisational skills to meet deadlines and will have proven experience in building successful relationships at all levels from Site Finance Assistants to Group-level Directors. With a strong technical background coupled with focus on compliance will be key in understanding the importance of internal and external deadlines. You will also bring strong computer literacy skills, particularly with Excel. The successful candidate will be professionally qualified with between 1-3 years PQE.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with sound organisation skills to achieve deadlines
  • Successful relationship builder with ability to communicate clearly across a range of customer contacts
  • Strong technical background with good understanding of controls and process
  • Focus on compliance and understanding the importance of internal (Period End) and external (VAT, HMRC) deadlines
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly advanced user of Excel
  • Professionally qualified with between 1-3 years PQE
