IT Project Manager - Hybrid role

We are working with one of the largest financial institutions in the UK who are looking for an experienced IT Project Manager who has ideally worked on TUPED transitions.

Someone with experience of knowing the process from an IT workplace viewpoint would be highly desirable.

Role Overview

The Project Manager role is within the Project Delivery team, reporting to one of the IT Portfolio Managers.

The purpose of this role is to project manage the Workplace and other operational IT aspects of a programme of work. This will likely involve work with third parties as well as both local and potentially global teams within the organisation. The work has a high focus from senior stakeholders. The role holder will need to be able to demonstrate an ability both to work with and understand the IT details but also position this effectively with senior IT stakeholders.

Duties

  • Manage the early phase of the project including shaping the required work with the relevant teams and external suppliers. Ensure that a full plan for delivery is produced.
  • Own and drive the delivery of the project, working closely with the wider programme team. Focus on delivery to agreed budgets and timescales as well as ensuring the quality of work delivered and protecting current operational service.
  • Ensure that planning and delivery takes appropriate account of local UK and any Group demands including governance standards.
  • Support the production of packs for Steering Group and senior stakeholders ensuring that the messages in them are clear and unambiguous.
  • Keep an up to date risk, issue and decision logs and ensure that these are actively managed.

Skills and experience

  • Work with team leads and resource managers to ensure that the required resources are mobilised in a timely manner and that the skills required are clear.
  • Proven experience of managing IT projects ideally in a Financial Services environment
  • Proven experience of managing Workplace related IT projects
  • Stature & gravitas to operate alongside senior stakeholders in IT and the wider business.
  • Proven leadership skills with drive and dynamic approach to drive pace and commitment across the team and build trusted long-term relationships with stakeholders
  • Excellent Knowledge of project management practices, methods and tools
  • Project/Programme Management Certification (e.g. APMP, Prince2, SAFE, or equivalent)
  • Strong commercial acumen and business awareness. Extensive knowledge of relevant systems and processes and full understanding of potential impact of projects and the confidence and experience to provide innovative solutions and initiatives
