Production Planner

Our client, a leading manufacturer based in Diss, is seeking a meticulous and motivated Production Planner to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and routing special parts to ensure they are manufactured in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. You will work closely with multiple departments, including production and packing, to ensure seamless operations. If you have experience in ERP-driven planning and possess excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, this could be the opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities of the Production Planner:

  • Plan and route special parts for manufacturing, ensuring adherence to safety standards, efficiency, and cost goals.
  • Develop and download cutting programs for laser and punching machines.
  • Create and manage sheet packing lists, ensuring correct build order, weight limits, and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Track progress and raise any issues with the Senior Production Planner.
  • Conduct regular stock checks on punched and ground coat sheets, maintaining accuracy and updating the ERP system accordingly.
  • Ensure the timely closure of production jobs to streamline information flow within the ERP system.
  • Identify and correct job booking errors, escalating any recurring problems to the Senior Production Planner.
  • Support metal product purchasing, including updating lead times and managing stock levels.
  • Investigate stock discrepancies to ensure the ERP system data is accurate and reliable.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of ERP systems and processes.
  • Provide support and coverage for the Planning Team as needed.
  • Maintain a focus on health and safety, both for yourself and others in your work area.
  • Deliver a high level of service to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and take on additional tasks as required.

Essential Skills & Attributes needed for this Production Planner role:

  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
  • IT proficient with strong administrative abilities.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proven experience in a planning role within an ERP system.
  • Organized with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
