Materials Manager - 12-month fixed term contract.
The Role:
I've exclusively partnered with a Global Lifestyle brand with their search for a Materials Manager to join them on a 12-month fixed term contract, starting in January 2025.
In this role, reporting to the Head of Product Development, you will take the lead in defining and managing the materials identification process. Your goal is to ensure the brand deliver outstanding quality products. Additionally, you'll focus on optimizing pricing, profitability, and supply chain efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with management to develop a materials strategy.
- Oversee and assist in every aspect of the material selection process.
- Partner with management to identify supply requirements.
- Suggest improvements to current processes to minimize waste and enhance output.
- Oversee and support in all areas of material selection process.
- Document and evaluate the quality, movement, and spending of all materials
- Build strong relationships between overseas suppliers and UK material and development teams.
- Maintain current supplier relationships and negotiate costs.
- Keep the materials library organized, including files and swatches.
- Support the brand as they expand sourcing strategies to support materials in different locations.
- Coordinate the colour management across all materials and components.
- Stay updated on industry changes and fashion trends.
- One trip to Asia next year.
- Collaborate closely with Design Managers and the overseas development team.
The person:
- Footwear experience is essential, plus leather supplier experience.
- Detailed knowledge of existing and potential leather/material suppliers.
- Understanding of current footwear market trends.
- MS Office proficiency with advanced Excel Full understanding of product costing process.
- Understanding of planning a product range and the role of cost within the margin calculation.
- Ability to travel when required during the development season Strong organisation and project management skills and able to work to deadlines.
This is a 12-month FTC starting from January 2025, paying £60k plus 10% bonus + amazing benefits. My role is working hybrid in their central London office 3 days office, 2 home. On occasion during range planning, you will be required to work 5 days in the office.
