We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to work within Pupil Referral Units and Alternative Provisions across Hampshire. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students who require additional assistance due to various challenges. This role is required on a full-time basis Monday to Friday (8.30am-3.30pm).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs under the direction of the class teacher and SEN Coordinator.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans and support strategies tailored to each student's specific needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting the development of self-esteem and confidence in all students.
  • Help to manage challenging behaviours in a constructive and supportive manner.
  • Support students with physical, emotional, and/or learning needs in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school life.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure effective communication and consistency in support strategies.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SEN Coordinator.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in SEN.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special educational needs (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of children with SEN.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to use initiative when required.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to meeting the needs of the school and its students.
  • Hold an Enhanced Child Work Force DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
