Elevation Recruitment Group is seeking a skilled Vertical Borer to join a specialist manufacturer primarily serving the UK defence industry.
Location: Ripley DE5
Shift: Day shift, 39 hours per week - Monday-Thursday: 07:30 - 16:30, Friday: 07:30 - 12:30
Salary: £36,000 - £40,000 DOE
The Role:
You will be working on low volume, high precision parts and handling materials ranging from Aluminium to Nickel-based alloys.
Responsibilities:
- Machining components ranging from 0.6 to 2.2 meters in diameter
- Programming, setting and operating machines including proving out new programs.
- Ensuring parts are machined right the first time and on time to an exacting quality standard.
- Maintaining a high level of housekeeping to ensure ongoing cleanliness of facilities.
- Following route card instructions and completing all documentation according to company procedures.
- Reading and understanding complex engineering drawings.
- Using and interpreting workshop measuring equipment.
- Performing in-cycle deburring of components where appropriate.
- Conducting periodic maintenance checks of equipment as appropriate.
- Proactively identifying and suggesting improvement opportunities.
- Accurately logging all working hours (direct and indirect hours)
Quality / Experience:
- Apprenticeship trained, time served, NVQ level 3, or higher.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a precision machining role.
- Preferred experience with Fanuc or Siemens based control systems.
- Experience in relevant industries such as Nuclear, Power Generation, Aerospace.
- Experience working to high precision tolerances.
- Experience working with a wide range of materials.
