Principal Architect

DK Recruitment are are currently looking for a Principal Architect to work with our Devonport Dockyard based client working within the Marine Sector that delivers a wide array of complex through-life marine Architectural services.

The major infrastructure Projects directorate provides major new or upgraded dock, berth and building infrastructure projects to provide facilities for the ship a submarine sustainment programmes. As a Principal Architects you'll work with multi-discipline infrastructure system designs to provide an overall sustainment capability. Using your experience in facility upgrade and building designs you will manage and review design packages by sub consultants and work with users and other stakeholders to ensure that the integrated facility provides the sustainment capability. You will use your Architectural expertise to ensure the end product meets the technical and operational requirements of the facility.

The Role

As a Principal Architect, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the Architectural aspects of the facility. Ensure systems are designed against clear statements of compliance with defined requirements, including demonstration that the designs meets relevant HSE requirement. Support the delivery of Architectural work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost.

  • Management of the Architectural elements of the Dock Facility upgrade, ensuring designer technical performance and making appropriate technical responses. Provide Subject Matter Expert advice for Architecture.
  • Provided Technical design guidance and review integration of Architectural designs with other design packages.
  • Ensure that design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget.
  • Plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and effectively contributing to the project's technical planning process.
  • Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements operate and deliver through compliance with the client's Business Management System and Technical Manual.
  • Ensure the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality control applied.
  • Ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the consultant team through effective management and communication.

Essential experience of the Principal Architect

  • Highly complex building in the nuclear sector (desirable)
  • Complex building in heavily regulated environment (essential)
  • Major Civil Infrastructure projects in the marine environment.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Batchelor's Degree in Architecture
  • Preferred Chartered Architect, registered with RIBA

Duration : 52 weeks

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance.
