The Company:

My client is a leader in the smart transport industry, particularly in the field of ticketing and smart travel cards. In addition, they produce and manage transport payment portals for several public sector and private travel companies.

The business employees less than 50 people but has an established history of over 25 years. They also have excellent colleague retention in the 2 years' I have been working with them.

Purpose of Role:

The role supports both the internal IT Development, Card Production and Compliance teams and will report to the IT Development Manager. The successful applicant will be responsible for handling both internal and external first line service desk tickets and assist with IT, Security and Compliance related activities. There is the potential to be involved with some programming and database work to support the production team, if desired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 1st line troubleshooting & monitoring: assessing automated job outputs and acting on any issues, escalating where necessary.
  • End User IT & hardware support: providing first line support for servers, desk / lap-tops and peripherals.
  • Monitoring & Escalation: review outputs from IT and production monitoring systems, escalating as necessary.
  • Compliance: ensuring compliance of the company IT systems including back-ups, patching, endpoint, vulnerability scans and device configurations. Correct or escalate issues and maintain documentation. Review dark web monitoring, threat intelligence and data leakage protection. Assist with ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus audits.
  • Reporting: produce monthly reports for invoicing and business performance tracking.
  • Data management: maintain data flow and retention/archiving records on a bespoke production system to comply with stated compliance obligations.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proactive and demonstrable customer services and communications skillset.
  • IT / first line service desk support and administration experience would be beneficial.
  • Proven, working knowledge of SQL beneficial.
  • An interest in programming (primarily C#, .Net) such as to assist with the coding and maintenance of programs supporting the import of data and other new opportunities would be advantageous. Training will be provided.
  • This role requires someone who is pro-active and has excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Should possess a good work ethic.
  • Able to work under pressure and balance multiple demands.

Special conditions:

  • This is an office-based role with poor transport links, so a driving licence and use of a vehicle is advised
