Job Description:

Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for bidding, winning, and overseeing projects from inception to completion. This role requires a strong background in groundworks and civil engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bidding and Tendering: Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents for groundworks and civil engineering projects.
  • Project Management: Oversee projects from the bidding stage through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and control project costs, ensuring financial efficiency and profitability.
  • Client Liaison: Maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing any concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Contract Management: Manage contracts, including variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Site Visits: Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on project status, costs, and progress to senior management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying and estimating within the groundworks and civil engineering sector.

  • Skills:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, CostX).

  • In-depth knowledge of construction contracts and legislation.

  • Certifications: Professional membership with RICS or similar is desirable.
